My family recently experienced the trip of a lifetime when we visited India. I have so many photos to share, but wanted to start with a few of my favorite travel items.
The journey to India is no joke. We spent 27 hours traveling to our destination. Even typing that makes me anxious. I have traveled overseas a few times (Europe and China) but this would be the first time traveling as a family so far away. I did a fare amount of research in prepping for our journey and wanted to share a few of my favorites with you.
my 4 favorite travel items:
->Have you ever wondered why nearly all water bottles are round? I found this little gem that fit so well within my carry one AND my fanny pack. The only downside of it is that it is not dishwasher safe and you probably need some cleaning beans to really get it cleaned well.
->When I traveled to China 10 years ago with my MBA class, half of the students’ luggage was lost. Including mine. Thankfully, it was recovered within 24 hours but ever since, I assume my luggage will be lost when we travel. I was determined to find a great carry on that would hold my camera gear and plenty of clothing/snacks/kids activities. Enter the “mother load” from eBags.
->We traveled to three different cities within India and wanted to pack light to avoid a lot of baggage handling at the airports. I discovered this bag for washing our clothes and it really was amazing. Yes, we could use the sink in our hotel, but the inside of this bag has bumps, mimicking a washboard. I have never sink washed clothes, but I’m going to say it did get the clothes cleaner than using the sink. It also is very compact can can be used as a wet bag too.
->Lastly, I’m crazy about getting good sleep and heard about jet lag pills 2 days before we left. Enter amazon prime and some amazing reviews of these pills. I wasn’t as worried about jet lag heading there as I was coming home so I really followed the directions on our return flight taking them every two hours. And guess what? They worked! I didn’t have the same problems adjusting to time on our return home as I did when I came back from China.
Hope this is helpful!
