As a seasoned, Denver maternity photographer, it’s important when working with clients that they have the best experience possible when working with me. Here are my three tips for making the session run as smoothly as possible:
Do your research when hiring a Denver maternity photographer
There are various styles and of course, price points in photography. It is important that you review the photographer’s portfolio, look at their Instagram and review the contract before agreeing to hire your photographer. An experienced photographer will have a variety of images to showcase and will be able to handle all lighting situations. A very experienced photographer will have a consistent aesthetic — make sure you like their style. On the other hand, a newer photographer will not have as many examples for viewing and may still be fine-tuning their particular style. As you can imagine, there is a price difference depending on the photographer’s expertise.
Timing is important for your maternity session
Typically, photographers will want to hold the session from 30 weeks on. Time flies, so it’s important to start researching when you are newly pregnant. If you are able to narrow down your photographer options you can start reaching out to check availability.
Appreciate your body!
Carrying a child for 9+ months is no easy feat. It can be difficult emotionally and take a toll on your body. During my second pregnancy, I was so exhausting and was feeling the effects of pretty much every side effect of being pregnant. I ended up not scheduling maternity photos and regret that still. Try to use the time for your session as a celebration of how far you have come and the amazing things your body is doing.
